Skimmed liquid shellac, ready to use.
The shellac is used in Iconography as an insulator (closes the pores of the wood) and a stabilizing varnish. It dissolves with pure alcohol 98% in a ratio of 1 part shellac to 2 or 3 parts alcohol. Pour the shellac flakes in a bowl with the pure Leave them for 24 hours until they dissolve. Stir occasionally, in order to speed up the process of dissolving the flakes. Before using the mixture, make sure that it is filtered so that solid bodies and insoluble parts of the shell do not penetrate.
